Up in the mountains again today. The dam is now partly demolished, however, in the days when slate production was in full swing a large reservoir behind it provided power for the machinery in the dressing sheds below. In the second shot, looking down the incline, this would have had a tramway running down it and wagons would transport the slate on it's way to the coast for export. Some were operated by steam engines but most worked by gravity, the one going down pulled the empty one up, a brake man at the top would control the speed.Regards, Pete
